Our client, a consortium of water-related public
organisations and charities, chose to set up an
art competition on the theme of Freshwater as the
UK contribution to the International Year of Freshwater.
The competition was aimed at people of all ages
in the UK and invited them to supply drawings/ paintings,
creative writing and photography all related to
freshwater. |
The competition was to be widely publicised
and was to culminate in a 2-day media event and
the creation of a lasting national collection of
freshwater sites illustrated in words and images.
Samui
Design & Management provided an extensive
brand portfolio for the event that was named H2O03. The brand consisted of a logo and a large number
of supporting documents. The logo and wider brand
was designed to appeal to lay people, both children
and adults and to represent the idea of freshwater.
Our vision was to present freshwater in a bright,
attractive and fun way. This was translated in
a very vibrant logo and an animated website (www.h2o03.org.uk)
that uses bright colours, simple circular shapes
and vivid freshwater related images. We also identified
and produced promotional material that would appeal
on the one hand to classroom teachers and pupils
and on the other hand to the media both before
and during the event.
The event was a great success, with huge participation
to the competition, over 200 hits a week to the
website (still on-going to date) and endorsement
by high profile figures including: BBC TV's Chris
Packham and Dr Andras Szollosi-Nagy, Director
Water Sciences of UNESCO. |
