Oxford company's brand design reaches 300m audience worldwide:
26/08/02 - A brand identity created by Oxford-based graphic and new media design specialists Samui Design & Management Ltd, has reached an estimated audience of 300m people worldwide, in just two weeks since its launch. Samui created the knowledgepool identity to promote five networks of international water resource and supply companies. The package created by Samui director Estelle Morris, including the brand itself, a new logo, interactive website, video, posters and promotional literature, was launched as the UK's exhibition stand at the recent Earth Summit. The stand was judged a huge success.
The kowledgepool partnership was funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and included Oxfordshire based CEH Wallingford and HR Wallingford, as well as major UK and international water companies and agencies. CEH Wallingford's Neil Runnalls says: "Samui created exactly the right look and feel. They've done an excellent job for us in a tight timescale, and stuck to budget. We estimate that with visitors to the stand and the website and through promotional work in the media, the knowledgepool concept has reached a worldwide audience of 300m people so far. That far exceeds our original target of 30 million."
Samui Design & Management Ltd were commissioned to create a brand that would draw together five global networks which have been set up to promote creating, sharing, accessing and using leading edge knowledge on water resources, water supply and sanitation. Partners in the knowledgepool include academics, NGOs, the private sector, unions, government departments and UN agencies. Visitors to the stand during the Summit included UK Ministers Clare Short (pictured with Neil Runnalls of CEH Wallingford and Ian Smout of WEDC) and Michael Meacher as well as thousands of delegates and others attending the summit. Visitors to the knowledgepool stand were invited to add their own ideas on the use of scarce water resources to a section on the knowledgepool website (www.knowledgepool.net), that Samui created for the exhibition.
